The visa waiver program for visitors to Jeju is one of three entries to South Korea announced by the Korean Embassy in November. Visa exemption can also be obtained by tourists in transit to third countries or by foreign transfer passengers. The Foreign Language Teaching Visa (E-2) is issued to foreign language teachers working in South Korea. Applicants must be from a country whose mother tongue is the same as the language they will teach and they must also obtain a bachelor`s degree in that country. Applications are required for background criminal examinations, health check-ups, sealed transcripts, verified copies of their conclusion, contracts and a fee to obtain the visa.  The following will be the basic services provided by the consular service at the same time as the requirements. The ePassport is published four (4) to six (6) weeks from the application date. Other documents are usually released after three (3) working days, with the exception of visas, which can be released after ten (10) working days during the summer and winter holidays in South Korea. Han said his government could introduce a visa waiver policy for Philippine passport holders if the number of undocumented Filipinos could be reduced, based on South Korea`s experience in its visa waiver program with another Southeast Asian country, Thailand. On the sidelines of the summit, representatives of the Philippine and South Korean governments are expected to sign an agreement that will continue the debate on a free trade agreement next year.
· Nationals of countries exempt from the visa requirement may travel to Korea without a visa, provided the purpose of their visit is tourism or temporary visit. Nationals of the following countries can stay up to 30 days visa-free for tourism or visit. (Exceptions: Canada is allowed up to 6 months and the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, Slovenia and Japan up to 90 days.) Foreigners from countries that are not allowed to travel to the Philippines without a visa, as well as foreigners authorized to travel to the Philippines without a visa, but whose expected length of stay exceeds 30 days, must apply for a temporary visit visa before travelling to the Philippines. A visitor with a temporary visa can receive up to 59 days for his stay in the Philippines. If a visitor wishes to stay longer than their first authorized 59-day stay, they can apply for an extension of stay with the Immigration Office (www.dfa.gov.ph/index.php/consular-services/visa) and pay the necessary fees. Then there are the minimum requirements for the application of a tourist visa: in 2007, the government introduced several new rules on the E-2 visa. These include a criminal record check, a health check and a consulate/embassy interview for the first candidates.  In 2008, it was denounced as discriminatory in several English-speaking countries that were excluded from the E-2 visa application.
