The dioceses did not accept a number of our requests or responded only on an interim basis. The Union hopes that greater clarity in the salary increases for support staff could make progress on other issues. These include increasing the salaries of headteachers and improving incentive schemes for teachers in remote schools, in line with those in public schools. The EU also aims to improve the provisions on the payment of maternity leave for teachers on fixed-term contracts (to take into account the provisions in public schools) and the payment of additional employer contributions for up to 12 months of paid and unpaid parental leave. The Union will meet on 5 December to discuss specifically with the CCER the application of wage increases which, by support staff in public schools, will be applied to the existing classification structure of Catholic schools. During the negotiations, employers identified this as a threshold issue and expressed concerns about costs. Improving long-term leave for support staff and improving the performance of learning assistants are also key themes. The Union will meet with the Archdiocese of Canberra-Goulburn on Wednesday 11 December to continue the debate on our request. Of particular concern is that the archdiocese has not agreed to get all of the teachers` pay increases in ACT government schools – for example, the one-time payment of $750 and the improvement of overannuation. Thank you for your support in 2019 and we look forward to your support in 2020 for this campaign. Enterprise agreements are enterprise-level agreements between employers and workers on terms of employment.
The employees of the Diocese of Broken Bay are subject to the following agreements: Their support to the members is essential to the success of our requirements. Please encourage all colleagues who are not yet members of the Union, including support staff and casual and temporary work teachers, to join the Union. Our right to improve the procedures for driving to be notified will also be examined. The Catholic Board of Education offers three super-innuation funds to staff. More information is available on the following websites: The Union will continue to meet with employers in the coming weeks and in February. We are committed to achieving a result as quickly as possible, without compromising the important elements of our ambitions. The Union met with most dioceses to discuss the intensification of work and to discuss how to remedy it through changes to the agreements on working practices. One of the main issues is our assertion that employers offer more face-to-face leave. The continuation of EA negotiations for IEU representatives in systemic Catholic schools met twice in November with the Catholic Labour Relations Commission (CCER), which represents the dioceses, to discuss our request. Unfortunately, the EU does not foresee that a scheme will be possible before the end of the period. Our loss system for pension insurance contributions is the Australian Catholic Superannuation Retirement Fund if no funds are listed. Workers are unable to manage Superannuation`s contributions to other superination funds.
Employers have rejected our requests for emergency and cultural and ceremonial leave (for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees), but we hope they can verify this position.
